Commissions

Original digital artwork, developed with the architecture.

A commission begins with a designated architectural property. Its color, form, movement, proportions, and display format are developed with consideration for the architecture, atmosphere, and visual character of the intended environment.

The finished work may be static, animated, or a coordinated collection of both. Animated compositions are made for continuous display: subtle movement that allows the work to evolve without overwhelming the space around it.

Collection pieces remain separate finished works and are presented as shown. A change to palette, composition, proportions, or display format begins as an original commission rather than a modification of a collection piece.

  1. 01

    Space and display review

Review the property, interior colors, display locations, screen proportions, technical requirements, and intended atmosphere.

  2. 02

    Artistic direction

Develop an original direction through color palettes, composition studies, architectural mockups, and animation previews.

  3. 03

    Artwork development

Create and refine the agreed static or animated work within the approved direction and project scope.

  4. 04

    Digital delivery

Supply the approved files and basic playback guidance in the formats specified for the display system.

Ways to acquire the artwork

Two arrangements, clearly defined.

Every proposal identifies the commissioned works, authorized property, displays, deliverables, exhibition rights, fees, and revision scope. The signed agreement and its schedules govern the project.

01 · Fixed-term exhibition license

Exhibition for a defined period.

A 12- or 24-month license permits the commissioned artwork to be shown on compatible displays within one authorized property. The arrangement includes two reasonable artwork revision rounds during the active term.

The license does not renew automatically. Before it expires, the client may request a written renewal, a separate permanent property acquisition, or discontinuation and removal of the operational files.

02 · Permanent property acquisition

Permanent exhibition at one property.

Upon full payment and final delivery, the client owns the delivered digital copies and receives perpetual exhibition rights at one authorized property, with no recurring exhibition fee. Two reasonable revision rounds are included during the first 24 months.

The rights may move with a property transfer or be relocated to another property under the agreement's notice provisions, but the artwork may be exhibited at only one authorized property at a time unless additional rights are agreed in writing.

A full copyright acquisition may be considered separately when a client requires broader intellectual-property ownership. It is not included in either standard exhibition arrangement and must be set out in its own written agreement.

Shared principles

What remains consistent.

Original and site-responsive

Each commercial commission is created for its intended client and architectural environment. An identical commissioned composition will not be reproduced or licensed to another commercial client.

Authorship remains with the artist

Copyright, source project files, proprietary software, artwork generators, algorithms, shaders, and production methods remain with Jakob Dahlin unless a separate written agreement expressly transfers copyright.

Exhibition is not reproduction

The delivered artwork may be exhibited only as authorized. Standalone resale, sublicensing, public distribution, merchandise, derivative works, or repurposing of the creative tools is not included.

The property operates the display

The client provides and maintains the screens, computers or media players, content systems, installation, network access, security, backups, and ongoing equipment operation unless separate services are agreed.

Digital delivery

Depending on the commission, final delivery may include high-resolution static files, a browser-compatible HTML animation package, MP4 playback files, and basic setup instructions. Future formats, conversions, compatibility updates, or technical services are scoped separately.

Documentation and credit

The client may show the artwork within photographs or films of the authorized property, but not distribute it as a standalone asset. Installation documentation, reasonable property access, portfolio use, and practical artist attribution are coordinated in the project agreement.
